Steps for rapid development of the province
- LAHORE: A high level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif at Chief Minister's Secretariat which considered various proposals for resource generation for different development projects in the province. Senior Member Board of Revenue, Secretary Finance, Secretary Communication & Works, Vice Chairman Punjab Commerce & Investment Board, Additional Secretary Budget, Director General Excise & Taxation, Financial Experts and other concerned were present. Financial Expert Ahsan Chughtai gave a detailed briefing to the meeting regarding generation of further resources in the province. The Chief Minister said that government is taking effective measures for rapid development of the province, provision of basic amenities to the masses, promotion of economic and trade activities as well as infrastructure development and more resources would be generated for this purpose. He said that a number of development projects have been initiated in the province for raising the living standard of the people. He said that a third-party audit system has been adopted for the execution of projects in a transparent manner. He said that culture of austerity has been promoted in the province and non-development expenditures have been curtailed while strict financial discipline is being maintained for utilization of additional resources on the welfare and uplift of the common man. He said that service of the masses is a mission of present government and maximum resources will be generated for this purpose. He said that the committee set up for resource generation for development projects should consider all options and submit its recommendations with seven days. He also directed to consider launching of Municipal Bond and Infrastructure Bond.
